Relative Geometric Configurations

چکیده

This is a survey of a recent work done by the three authors, in which an analysis of geometric properties of a structure relative to a reduct is initiated. In particular, definable groups and fields in this context are considered. In a relatively 1-based theory every group is definably isogenous to a subgroup of a group definable in the reduct. For relatively CM-trivial theories (which encompass certain Hrushovski’s amalgams, such as the fusion of two strongly minimal theories or coloured fields), we prove that every group can be mapped by a homomorphism with central kernel to a group definable in the reduct.

Performance Analysis for Bistatic Interferometric SAR Configurations

The results of an interferometric performance analysis for spaceborne parasitic SAR configurations are presented. The analysis includes errors due to limited SNR, block adaptive quantization, range and azimuth ambiguities, and geometric decorrelation for both flat surfaces and random volumes. Relative height accuracies for three spaceborne configurations with PALSAR, ASAR and TerraSAR-X as illu...

The Relative Improvement of Bias Reduction in Density Estimator Using Geometric Extrapolated Kernel

One of a nonparametric procedures used to estimate densities is kernel method. In this paper, in order to reduce bias of  kernel density estimation, methods such as usual kernel(UK), geometric extrapolation usual kernel(GEUK), a bias reduction kernel(BRK) and a geometric extrapolation bias reduction kernel(GEBRK) are introduced. Theoretical properties, including the selection of smoothness para...

On topological and geometric $(19_4)$ configurations

An (nk) configuration is a set of n points and n lines such that each point lies on k lines while each line contains k points. The configuration is geometric, topological, or combinatorial depending on whether lines are considered to be straight lines, pseudolines, or just combinatorial lines. The existence and enumeration of (nk) configurations for a given k has been subject to active research...

Geometric Matching of 3-D Objects: Assessing the Range of Successful Initial Configurations

This paper considers the matching of 3D objects by a geometric approach based on the iterative closest point algorithm (ICP), which, starting from an initial configuration of two rigid objects, iteratively finds their best correspondence. The algorithm does not converge always to the best solution. It can be trapped in a local minimum and miss the optimum matching. While the convergence of this...

Geometry and physics of catenanes applied to the study of DNA replication.

The concept of ideal geometric configurations was recently applied to the classification and characterization of various knots. Different knots in their ideal form (i.e., the one requiring the shortest length of a constant-diameter tube to form a given knot) were shown to have an overall compactness proportional to the time-averaged compactness of thermally agitated knotted polymers forming cor...

Using Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms for Modelling and Multi-objective Optimal Heat Exchange through a Tube Bank

In this study, by using a multi-objective optimization technique, the optimal design points of forced convective heat transfer in tubular arrangements were predicted upon the size, pitch and geometric configurations of a tube bank. In this way, the main concern of the study is focused on calculating the most favorable geometric characters which may gain to a maximum heat exchange as well as a m...
